HAZOP
Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies are the industry standard methodology for identifying the hazards and operability issues on new, modified or existing chemical facilities. The technique is invaluable for assisting in improving plant safety and productivity and is recognized by the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency as an ideal tool for hazard identification.
The HAZOP study is a rigidly structured review methodology which relies on the site expertise of a multidisciplinary team of specialists. However, the process relies heavily on an independent team facilitator to ensure that the team is guided efficiently through the methodology and all team members are given the opportunity to make their valuable contributions. The facilitator will direct the team to identify deviations from the design intent or normally anticipated operating conditions and proposing solutions. Through this process, all team members are encouraged to become familiar with the process and a free flow of ideas and experiences results. A series of checklists are used to minimize the potential for hazards to remain unidentified.
At Harvey Parr Limited, we have an experienced HAZOP facilitator with fifteen years experience in preparing and leading these reviews. Our engineer has attended a series of IChemE accredited training courses in the technique and has facilitated HAZOPs in processes with the most aggressive or hazardous operating conditions. All your HAZOP needs can be accommodated as Harvey Parr Limited can deal with all aspects of the process from the preparation to the facilitation and scribing of the study and writing of a comprehensive final report.
